Marketscape™: Map Query Example
Exercise: To identify counties whose Hispanic population percentage is greater than 50%.

On the Data Settings tab:

For Geography select County. Country (Geo-0) was selected only for purposes of this exercise but Map Queries can be defined for any level of geography.

Click the Map Query tab.

For Year, select the desired Year check box.

For Data Type, select the Percentage check box.

Under Indicator, click to expand the American Marketscape DataStream database.

Click next to the to expand Geography, Population and Household Summary groups. Then expand, Population and Total & Hispanic. Various symbols may display next to indicators :

Double-click Hispanic Population % to select. The indicator is added to the Query Editor text area and the Minimum and Maximum values of the selected indicator displays above the Query Editor.

Click the > operator button.

In the Query Editor type 50%.

Click Run. Map in view displays only those counties that meet the criteria defined in query. That is, those counties whose Hispanic population makes up more than 50% of their total population.

In the submenu click and then select Map Report to get the list of countries in a tabular report.
