Geocoding Accuracy Levels

Geocoding is the process by which the street address is converted into geographic coordinates (Latitude and Longitude). The accuracy code provides you with the level of precision which it was able to assign the coordinates based on the address provided. Sites not geocoded are excluded from the processed sites and listed in the error log accessible via My Projects.

Below is the list of all the codes and their meaning:

Coding Accuracy Level Description
S5 Single point located at the street address position (highest accuracy available).
M5 Multiple point located at the street address position.
S4 Single point located at the nearest known address.
M4 Point interpolated between two known addresses
SX Point located at the street intersection.
Z9 Point located at the ZIP+4 centroid.
S9 Point located at the center of a shape point path within a known ZIP+4.
Z7 Point located at the ZIP+2 centroid.
ZX Point located at Post Office (PO) box.
Z5 Point located at the ZIP Code centroid.
